About Us

The Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre (Hornsby Pool) is a premier facility featuring an array of amenities, including a heated eight-lane 50-meter outdoor pool for lap swimming, outdoor seating for 500 spectators with breathtaking views of Old Mans Valley, and a heated indoor pool measuring 10 meters by 25 meters for learn-to-swim activities. Additionally, we boast a state-of-the-art gymnasium.

HSC also manages the Galston Aquatic Centre (Galston Pool), which is nearing completion of its refurbishment and will soon offer aqua programs in its 25-meter six-lane pool upon reopening. This facility is nestled in beautiful bushland adjacent to Hayes Park and close to the community hub of Galston Village.

Role Overview

This position involves being part of a team responsible for delivering aqua aerobic classes at the aquatic facility for designated groups, local schools, and the general public. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading aqua aerobic and/or fitness group classes for assigned user groups
  • Developing daily class plans
  • Monitoring individual progress within classes
  • Providing feedback and discussing progress with class participants
  • Preparing and organizing equipment for lessons and ensuring proper storage post-classes
  • Maintaining current and valid essential qualifications for the role
  • Assisting Centre Management in promoting the aqua program with a positive and proactive approach towards members

Candidate Profile

The Aqua Instructor role requires a proactive and enthusiastic individual with an understanding of working in an aquatic setting. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to collaborate within a team and complete assigned tasks within set deadlines, are essential for success in this role.

A high level of physical fitness is necessary, as you will be responsible for demonstrating, conducting, and supervising participants in the correct application of aqua aerobic techniques.
