Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist Role
This role forms part of our multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) team, which delivers community-based mental health services to children and young people aged 5–18 and their families.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist will work on prompt, developmentally appropriate assessment and person-centred care, tailored to each family's needs, whether through outreach or local services.
The role aims to reduce hospital admissions by providing proactive risk management and early intervention, delivering evidence-based therapeutic care, and strengthening relationships across home, school and community.
Main Responsibilities
- Apply professional knowledge and skills in a complex child and youth mental health setting, including evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Work therapeutically with families to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people.
- Develop understanding of childhood trauma, child protection and domestic and other violence as they relate to child and youth mental health.
- Work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families and colleagues using written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
- Recognised tertiary qualification in psychology, occupational therapy, social work or related field.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body or eligibility for membership.
- National Police Certificate and other relevant checks.
