At the Department of Education, Western Australia, we are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Officer to join our team. As a Payroll Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payments, leave, and benefits.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and legislation, as well as experience with computerized human resource management information systems. They will be able to perform complex pay calculations with accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process employee personal information and pay distributions
  • Manage employee commencements, movements, variations, and terminations
  • Handle leave, salary, and allowance payments, income tax, and overpayments
  • Evaluate work for timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable industrial instruments, legislation, and department policies

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment that fosters equity and diversity.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all payroll transactions are processed accurately and efficiently, and that employees receive their salaries and benefits on time. You will also be required to maintain accurate records and provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders.

The estimated annual salary range for this position is between AU$60,000 and AU$80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also be eligible for additional benefits, including 11.5 percent employer contributions to superannuation and more than 20 days of other leave.
