
Support Specialist for Individuals with Intellectual Disability

Job Overview
The role of the Support Specialist is to provide assistance and guidance to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. The position involves supporting direct support staff in delivering accommodation and respite services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to clients receiving accommodations and respite services
- Ensure staff practices adhere to relevant legislative requirements and standards, including the Human Services Quality Framework
- Support organizational requirements by ensuring shift coverage and roster-related duties in a 24/7 service model
- Respond to emergent situations and critical incidents, including those involving disruptive behavior
- Perform roster-related duties, such as filling shift vacancies and deploying staff as required
- Provide a contact point for after-hours communication and inquiries
- Liaise with various stakeholders, including staff, families, other agencies, and the community
- Contribute to service-monitoring activities and tasks determined by management
- Ensure application of relevant legislative requirements, departmental policies, and service delivery practices
- Actively contribute to support planning for individuals with disabilities who receive services
- Participate in projects and general administrative duties, including record-keeping and report preparation
