The tax team engages with all areas of the Coles business, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and optimize tax outcomes.

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Advisor to join our team. As a trusted advisor, you will partner with multiple stakeholders to deliver high-quality tax advice and services that meet our business needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of income tax returns and year-end accounts;
  • Research, analysis, and preparation of tax advice;
  • Preparing responses to revenue authority requests for information;
  • Contract review and advice;
  • Engagement with numerous stakeholders, including business categories and group functions;
  • Engagement and management of external advisers;
  • Engagement with revenue authorities;
  • Execution of the Coles group governance procedures;
  • Leading change on automation and improvement processes;

About You and Your Skills

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • CA/CPA qualifications or a Master's degree in Tax Law;
  • Strong tax effect accounting skills;
  • Income tax return preparation skills;
  • Strong income tax technical skills, including reading the law, extrinsic materials, interpretation, analysis, and critical thinking;
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, including position papers and advice;
  • Proficient system skills – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;

Salary: AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum
