- Collaborate with legal teams, panel firms, and internal stakeholders to manage litigation and resolve high-value claims efficiently.
We're seeking an experienced Senior Claims Specialist to manage a portfolio of high-value and complex Specialty claims, including professional indemnity, injury, and property liability. You'll provide strategic advice, manage end-to-end claims, and collaborate with internal legal teams and external counsel to drive timely resolution and support technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse range of claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures, providing expert guidance and support.
- Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams, panel firms, and counsel to manage legal complexities and ensure effective risk management.
- Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required, promoting a positive risk culture.
- Support technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims team, contributing to process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Promote alignment of claims strategies across internal stakeholders, driving commercial success.
- Operate within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance are mandatory.
- Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services are also mandatory.
- A minimum of 5–10 years' experience managing complex liability or professional indemnity claims is required.
- Litigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement, is essential.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills are necessary for success in this role.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities are crucial for collaboration and relationship-building.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members is highly valued.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems is required.
