Environmental Unit Lead

Council is seeking an experienced and creative professional to lead the Environment Unit in delivering the organisation's environment strategy, climate emergency plan, zero net emissions plan, and related policies and documents.

The position oversees a team of highly capable and passionate staff responsible for the organisation's climate change, biodiversity, environmental engagement, and natural resource management functions.

The successful candidate will possess highly developed leadership skills, an understanding of the legislative, policy, and political context of local government, a commitment to genuine and collaborative community and stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence change within a large organisation.

This role suits someone with a strategic mindset who can position the team to achieve its vision while providing guidance on day-to-day operational issues as they arise.

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience
