Sustainability Leader

Council is seeking a seasoned environment professional to oversee the Environment Unit's delivery of the organisation's Environment Strategy, Climate Emergency Plan and Zeron Net Emissions Plan.

The position leads a team responsible for climate change, biodiversity, environmental engagement and natural resource management functions. The successful candidate will have highly developed leadership skills, an understanding of local government legislation, policy and politics, and a commitment to genuine community and stakeholder engagement.

This role suits someone with a strategic mindset who can position the team to achieve its vision while providing day-to-day operational guidance. You will work with a passionate community to deliver tangible environmental outcomes in the picturesque Macedon Ranges.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the Environment Unit's delivery of the organisation's environmental strategy

- Lead a team of environment professionals in climate change, biodiversity, environmental engagement and natural resource management

- Develop and implement strategies to achieve organisational environmental goals

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field

- Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental management or a related field

- Strong leadership and communication skills
