Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and creative environmental professional to lead our Environment Unit in the delivery of our organisation's Environment Strategy, Climate Emergency Plan, Zero Net Emissions Plan and related policies, plans and strategic documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • To oversee a team of highly capable and passionate staff responsible for climate change, biodiversity, environmental engagement and natural resource management functions.
  • To possess highly developed leadership skills, understanding of the legislative, policy and political context of local government, commitment to genuine and collaborative community and stakeholder engagement, and ability to influence change within a large organisation.
  • To position the team to achieve its vision, while providing guidance on day-to-day operational issues as they arise.
Requirements
  • A strategic mindset with experience in leading a team and influencing change within an organisation.
  • Highly developed leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the legislative, policy and political context of local government.
  • Ability to work with a range of people, including council staff, community members, and external stakeholders.

Location

The role will be based in the Macedon Ranges Shire, approximately one hour's drive north-west of Melbourne.
