Job Title: Fire Communications Officer

About the Role
  • Respond to emergency calls and collect relevant information, utilizing strong communication skills to effectively gather and provide critical details.
  • Determine appropriate responses and dispatch resources as needed, exercising sound judgment and prioritization skills.
  • Coordinate efforts with other organizations to ensure effective incident management, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
  • Maintain and update incident information in our CAD system, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to new staff members, sharing knowledge and expertise to promote growth and development.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to system enhancements, leveraging your analytical skills to drive positive change.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
  • A strong understanding of emergency management principles, with a focus on effective incident management and community safety.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • A valid Blue Card, Australian Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
