The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner for a 12-month contract. In this role, you will work across state-funded domestic violence programs, providing intake, counselling, court support and group work to individuals who have experienced domestic and family violence.
You will partner with victim survivors using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to support and empower them to thrive in a future free of violence and abuse.
Key Responsibilities- Completing client intakes, including initial risk assessment and safety planning.
- Providing domestic and family violence counselling, psychoeducation, and group work.
- Supporting clients attending court in relation to domestic and family violence matters.
- Supporting individuals to identify their goals and immediate needs, increasing their safety, agency, and autonomy.
- Advocating on behalf of clients experiencing violence and abuse, making suitable referrals, assessing eligibility for safety upgrades and other forms of practical assistance.
- Participating in meetings and liaising with local stakeholders, such as Police, Child Safety, Corrections and Housing.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science and eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA or ACA are mandatory.
- Current QLD Working with Children Check or willingness to apply.
- Evidence of Australian Work Rights.
- Current Police Check (within the last three months).
- A current driver's licence.
