The Role
  • We seek an experienced Domestic Violence Practitioner for a 12-month contract on the Sunshine Coast.

Description of Duties

  • Client intake, risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Domestic and family violence counselling, psychoeducation, and group work.
  • Supporting clients attending court in relation to domestic and family violence matters.
  • Assisting individuals to identify their goals and immediate needs for increased safety, agency, and autonomy.
  • Advocating on behalf of clients experiencing violence and abuse, making suitable referrals and assessments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation, including Domestic and Family Violence Act and Child Protection Act.
  • Effective articulation of a well-developed practice framework.
  • Minimum two years' experience managing intake, risk assessment and safety planning, court support, psychoeducation, referral pathways, DVO assistance and group work.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science with eligibility for membership of relevant professional bodies.
  • Current QLD Working with Children Check, evidence of Australian Work Rights and current Police Check within three months.
