About this Role

This role is a key position within the prison industry, responsible for managing and delivering various functions. You will play a crucial part in overseeing the employment of prisoners, ensuring safe operating procedures, and meeting Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.

Responsibilities include setting up and managing staff facilities, preparing meals, working as part of a team to achieve operational aims, and providing coaching and mentoring to enhance skills and employability options.

Main Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage kitchen operations
  • Prepare meals for staff and other catering purposes
  • Collaborate with a team to achieve operational goals
  • Support the development of prison workers through training and guidance
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant trade experience in food services or equivalent qualifications
  • Completion of relevant trade qualifications or equivalent related to the needs of the facility and experience at training workers in that trade area
  • A commitment to working collaboratively with staff, prisoners, and other service providers to deliver an integrated approach to rehabilitation and reducing re-offending
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk effectively with complex individuals
  • Completion of Corrections Victoria pre-service training or willingness to undertake it
