Job Description

As a Shift Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the operational performance of one of Australia's largest thermal generation assets. Your key responsibilities will include leading and managing all production activities, overseeing up to 80 team members, and coordinating with contractors. You will ensure safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, auxiliary systems, and coal handling infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, auxiliary systems, and coal handling infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Wholesale & Trading to optimize plant availability and align production with commercial goals.
  • Manage emergency response protocols and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, team development, and strategic planning.
What We Look For:
  • Solid leadership experience in thermal power generation or large industrial operations.
  • Qualifications in engineering, science, or management—or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Sound understanding of the National Electricity Market and energy industry operations.
  • Proven ability to manage large budgets and lead strategic initiatives.
