Job Title: Banking and Finance Law Expert

Key Responsibilities:

This role involves providing expert legal advice on complex financial transactions, including risk management and compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with senior counsel to structure, draft, negotiate, and review transaction documents, ensuring they meet the company's mandate and objectives.

  • Provide counsel on risk participation and syndicated lending arrangements, as well as corporate finance and trade finance transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate deal documents, such as loan agreements and security agreements, while collaborating with credit, portfolio management, and external advisers.
  • Develop and maintain legal templates, guidelines, and training materials for transaction teams, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of banking and finance laws and regulations.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail and ability to communicate complex legal issues to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have a solid background in business banking, corporate finance, and trade finance, with exposure to risk participation and syndicated lending arrangements. A minimum of 5 years of experience in banking and finance law is required, gained in-house at a large financial institution or within a top/mid-tier law firm.

  • A current practising certificate as a solicitor in New South Wales or an equivalent Australian jurisdiction.
  • Proven drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to stay up-to-date with changes in banking and finance laws and regulations.
