About You:

Essential Qualifications:

  • University-level counselling qualification (Bachelors degree, Graduate Certificate, or Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline)
  • Professional accreditation with ACA, PACFA, AASW, AHPRA, or relevant body

Position Summary:

This role involves providing free, confidential telephone counselling support to parents and carers in the ACT and surrounding areas. Our Volunteer Telephone Counsellors work with clients over the phone or online, conducting sessions that promote emotional well-being and address parenting concerns.

Clinical Services Team Members are university-trained professionals with professional accreditation. We strive to create a supportive environment where parents can explore their challenges and develop effective coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting telephone counselling sessions based on person-centred, strengths-based, harm-minimisation, and trauma-informed frameworks
  • Providing psychoeducation, information, resources, and referrals to community agencies as needed
  • Maintaining accurate client records, including quantitative and qualitative data

Job Requirements:

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience working therapeutically with diverse groups, individuals, and families, including indigenous clients
  • Knowledge of clinical therapeutic practices such as Person-Centred approach, attachment theories, Strengths-based, ACT, CBT, RBP, Narrative therapies

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience working therapeutically with diverse groups, individuals, and families, including indigenous clients
  • Experience working with women who have experienced complex trauma, alcohol or drug issues, homelessness, or domestic violence

Working Environment:

This position requires collaboration with Toora's Clinical Services team, involving regular group-based supervision and meetings. Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office are essential for this role.

Remuneration:

A competitive salary package is available for this challenging yet rewarding role. The estimated annual salary range is between $60,000 to $80,000 AUD, depending on experience and qualifications.
