Role Summary

This role is a critical component of our strategy to support the educational participation and success of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide educational counselling services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students across multiple schools, working closely with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to identify and address individual needs.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance the involvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families in education, including activities within and beyond the school setting.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and organisations to provide access to information and support services that can benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and promote awareness of their social and cultural perspectives within the school community.
Requirements
  • A strong understanding of the educational and social challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and a proven ability to develop effective strategies for supporting their participation and success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including students, teachers, parents, and community members.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusive and culturally responsive practice within the school community.
