
Bushfire Community Safety Research Specialist

The post-bushfire social research project aims to investigate the sharing of information among stakeholders and its impact on community safety. The project will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods.
Research Objectives- Identify key factors influencing information sharing and dissemination
- Examine the effectiveness of existing communication channels and strategies
- Develop recommendations for improving information sharing and community safety in the face of bushfires
The project will involve semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, focus groups with community members, and an online survey to collect quantitative data. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the complex issues surrounding information sharing and community safety.
Expected Outcomes- A comprehensive report detailing the findings of the research and recommendations for improving information sharing and community safety
- Policy briefs summarizing key findings and recommendations for policymakers and practitioners
- A publicly available dataset containing results of the online survey and other relevant data collected during the research
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, environmental science, emergency management)
- Experience in conducting research on disaster risk reduction and management
- Strong understanding of information sharing and community safety concepts and principles
- Excellent communication and writing skills
