Senior Lecturer in Advanced Manufacturing

The Western Sydney University is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Senior Lecturer in Advanced Manufacturing.

Key responsibilities include conducting world-leading and impactful research, teaching across a broad range of areas including advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, sustainable manufacturing, and related topics in mechanical and aerospace engineering, computer-aided engineering, and advanced engineering materials.

Responsibilities also include collaborating with colleagues within the School and across the University, designing curriculum, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising students.

The successful applicant will be expected to foster links with external partners, including industry, government, and community, as the School diversifies its income sources.

Additionally, the incumbent will develop and deliver innovative interdisciplinary academic programs, lead student projects for national and international competitions, and supervise projects addressing grand challenges.

Required skills and qualifications include a PhD or equivalent in Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related field.

Significant experience and achievements in areas such as advanced manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, advanced material processing technologies, or computer-aided engineering are also required.

Leadership in research, fostering a strong research culture, and developing research initiatives are essential.

A proven capacity to secure substantial research funding from various sources, including competitive government grants and industry partnerships, is also required.

Experience in successful interaction with industry or other external partners in research projects is essential, with industry experience in a related field being highly regarded.

Applicants should be aware that this role will involve travel to other campuses when operational needs arise.
