Electronics Engineer Job Description

The Electronics Engineering Team is responsible for designing and developing all the electronic parts within our devices.

This work includes elements of component selection, supplier management, calculation, simulation, design, verification including compliance testing, and troubleshooting prototype issues. The team handles the transfer of designs to manufacturing.

Closely collaborating with Project Management, Systems, Mechanical, Software engineering disciplines, and other departments such as Quality, Regulatory, Medical Affairs and Manufacturing.

The Power Team focuses on developing products and subsystems that deliver and manage power across devices.

This includes technologies that enable safe, efficient, and reliable operation of systems, from mains-powered solutions to battery-driven devices.

Output includes power electronics, battery systems, charging solutions, and energy management subsystems ensuring devices perform consistently in diverse environments.

The Power Team plays a critical role in enabling innovation, ensuring compliance with demanding regulatory standards, and delivering dependable therapy to millions of patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical aspects of electronics designs according to business priorities, including specification and development of new products potentially generating significant revenue.
  • Optimize analysis, review, testing, certification, and documentation of new electronic designs.
  • Ensure successful transition of new electronic designs to prototype and volume production at contract manufacturers according to project needs.
  • Coordinate problem-solving activities, including root cause analysis, solution design, and validation.
  • Anticipate challenges faced by the team and proactively implement measures to address project risks.
  • Engage team members across the organization to ensure working methods are robust and optimized.
  • Coach and mentor engineers within the group as a subject matter expert.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of skills and knowledge across the team and support others to achieve organizational goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent, along with extensive knowledge of electronic components and design technologies.
  • Substantial experience in product development creating high-quality, volume products.
  • Expertise in battery technologies and design of battery management systems, including chemistry, lifetime factors, safety, fuel gauging, and compliance with global battery regulations.
  • Proven responsibility for integrating/developing complex electronics board-level designs and transferring them into production.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership based on this experience.
  • Effective and frequent communication with team members, peers, managers, and external stakeholders, particularly when there are roadblocks to development progress.
  • Proven experience in supplier engagement from evaluation and selection through ongoing collaboration and quality assurance.
