Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Neurophysiology Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network. This role involves working independently as a scientific officer under the supervision of senior scientists, surgeons, and neurologists to facilitate safe and effective neuromonitoring in children with paroxysmal disorders for diagnostic purposes and epilepsy surgery.

The position requires accurate real-time interpretation of neuromonitoring data, reporting to the surgeon, and ensuring a safe clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

About the Role

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for conducting neuromonitoring procedures to assess children with paroxysmal disorders for diagnostic purposes and epilepsy surgery. You will accurately interpret neuromonitoring data in real-time and report to the surgeon, ensuring a safe clinical environment by monitoring equipment function and following proper procedures.

You will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to research initiatives, participating in quality improvement projects and advancing medical knowledge.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Neurology, or a related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology or a related field (desirable)
  • Experience in clinical research and/or academic settings (desired)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
