Teaching Opportunity in Epidemiology

QUT is seeking a sessional academic to assist in teaching a post-graduate epidemiology course. This course covers fundamental concepts of Epidemiology from public health and clinical practice perspectives.

Enrolled students are diverse, including Master of Public Health, Health Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Nursing and Clinical Ultrasound.

Applicants require post-graduate studies in Public Health, Epidemiology or similar with foundational contemporary epidemiology. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities include conducting 2-hour tutorials using prepared worksheets and slides for review and problem-solving groups, as well as marking critical appraisal assignments.

Classes are scheduled weekly from week 1 to week 13 (excluding Easter break). Tutorials take place on Thursdays from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Marking occurs over three weeks.

Requirements

  • Post-graduate qualification in Public Health, Epidemiology or similar
  • Commitment to undertake workshops within 12 months or have completed one of the following:
    • Workshops
    • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
    • Post graduate studies in education and training
  • Demonstrate willingness to undertake induction and complete mandatory online training
  • Previous teaching experience desirable
