Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team at our mushroom growing facility in Melbourne. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining site assets, conducting proactive maintenance, and ensuring equipment is running efficiently.

About the Role

The key focus of this position will be to facilitate and conduct proactive maintenance, including routine inspections, tests, measurements, adjustments, parts replacement, lubricating, and cleaning of plant and equipment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for pre-planning downtime for equipment replacement based on date and equipment running hours, as per manufacturer's recommendations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring that site assets are routinely inspected and failures caused by fatigue, neglect or normal wear are identified and repaired prior to a major breakdown.
  • Performing maintenance, including tests, measurements, adjustments, parts replacement, lubricating, and cleaning of plant and equipment, to prevent faults occurring and to avoid any unscheduled downtime.
  • Pre-planning downtime for equipment replacement based on date and equipment running hours, in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Scheduling maintenance based on resourcing and facility availability.
  • Conducting condition-based maintenance and fault reporting based on indicators that show equipment may fail or that equipment performance is deteriorating.
  • Assisting with the disposal of obsolete machinery, plant, and equipment.
  • Installing new machinery, plant, and equipment.
  • Fault finding using technical manuals, diagrams, and/or machine knowledge, and repairing equipment before it causes further damage.
  • Providing engineering solutions for continuous improvements.
  • Helping to produce and implement SWMS and Risk Assessment documents, as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum completion of Certificate 3 Engineering (Mechanical), to qualify at a Level ranging from C6 to C10, Fitter and Machinist/Fitter and Turner.
  • Forklift, EWP, and Scissor-Lift Licences preferred.
  • Experience using CMMS beneficial (MEX preferred).
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Pneumatic-Hydraulic equipment beneficial.
  • Food Manufacturing knowledge or relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Competent at basic oxy acetylene gas, and welding repairs.
