Aboriginal Health Leadership Specialist

We are seeking an experienced leader to develop a comprehensive health workforce plan that prioritises the needs and aspirations of our community.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in building relationships with local and national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, including the health workforce, health leadership, education providers, and community organisations.
They will work closely with the ACT First Nations Health Workforce Collaborative to provide high-level policy advice on current and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce approaches and leadership.
This role involves scoping, developing, implementing, and evaluating projects based on cultural determinants of health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing.
Main Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing strategies to promote anti-racist and culturally responsive approaches in health workforce reform;
- Establishing and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders, including the Aboriginal Community Controlled Sector, education providers, and community organisations;
- Providing high-level policy advice on current and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce approaches and leadership;
- Scoping, developing, implementing, and evaluating projects based on cultural determinants of health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing;
Eligibility Criteria:
- Being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person;
- Having health-related qualifications and/or experience across health-related sectors, including the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector (preferable but not essential).
We recognise the additional cultural, community, and advocacy responsibilities often carried by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff in leadership roles. We offer supports, including access to cultural supervision, peer debriefing, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff networks.
