Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist

This role is an exciting opportunity to work with vulnerable children, young people, and their families. As an Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist, you will be working sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children, or young people.

You will assist families in formulating goals that align with their needs, addressing safety and well-being concerns, and provide appropriate assistance through home visits. Additionally, you will develop safety plans and complete risk assessments, manage cases and situations, including working with high-needs and high-risk clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing case plans to address the safety and well-being needs of children, young people, and their families.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of child safety and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Building positive working relationships with the Aboriginal community and other stakeholders.
  • Providing education and support to families on how to promote the safety and well-being of their children.

Requirements:

  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification is preferred;
  • Applicants without a relevant qualification require at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families;
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with the Aboriginal community, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • A valid driver's license;
  • A paid working with children clearance number;

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range from $89,934 – $116,969 per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading. You will also receive opportunities to work flexibly, customized career development, and support for personal and professional growth.
