About the Role:

The Great Southern Hotel is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to join our team. As a Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our bistro/restaurant, ensuring exceptional quality and service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate the operations of the bistro/restaurant to provide dining, catering, and function activities.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage of staff who will service organized group functions.
  • Deliver superior customer service that is both professional and timely.
  • Work in line with the Company's Policies and Procedures, licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations.
  • Direct liaison with patrons, function organizers, suppliers, Hotel Licensee, Head Chef, and the kitchen team.
  • Work with the Head Chef on the planning of menus and functions menu offering.
  • Assist with maintaining records of stock levels.
  • Welcoming hotel guests to dining areas and introducing them to the Hotels menu.
  • Conduct regular floor checks of the bistro/restaurant to maintain its superior presentation and cleanliness.
  • Assist in the training of restaurant staff, ensuring they are up-to-date with the menu, specials of the day, ingredients in dishes, enabling them to assist patrons with food selections.
  • Carry out cashiering/reconciliation of the bistro/restaurant's cash register, in line with cash handling procedures.
  • Monitor bistro/restaurant daily operations, including the handling of customer queries.
  • Be abreast of current hotel promotions.
  • Work in accordance with the venues OH&S policy.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and excellent customer service focus.
  • Energetic and friendly, while being professionally presented and groomed at all times.
  • Three (3) years minimum experience in the same or a similar role is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of seasonal foods, flavors, ingredients in dishes, etc.
  • Strong people, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to articulate clear instructions, set expectations, and consistent approach delivering high standards, while encouraging and promoting a harmonious team environment.
  • Able to mentor and train restaurant staff.
  • Committed, trustworthy, and responsible individual.
  • Flexible and available to work nights, weekends, public holidays, when rostering demands this.
