The RoleThis is a unique opportunity to lead our Civil Practice Group in Avant Law (NSW) and develop your leadership capability and management skills.
We seek an experienced candidate with a background in managing a civil medical negligence team in Sydney. This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Sydney office with hybrid working arrangements.
Main Responsibilities- Manage the civil litigation team, ensuring billing targets are met and high-quality legal services are provided.
- Supervise lawyers within the civil team and others who handle civil files, providing sustainable, timely, and efficient legal services.
- Coordinate resourcing and workflows within the civil team, ensuring claims are managed according to agreed protocols and professional standards.
- Develop and mentor the civil team (lawyers and paralegals) for career growth within the Avant Law team.
- Support the delivery of medico-legal advisory services to Avant members by providing advice and assistance.
- Leadership experience or strong interest in developing people leadership skills.
- Defence medical negligence and insurance law experience ideal.
- Demonstrated health law knowledge.
- Proactive in developing relationships and understanding member, business, and team requirements.
- Excellent communication skills.

The estimated salary for this role is $150,000 per annum, based on industry standards and the location of Sydney, NSW.
