Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Installation Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Foreman and Superintendent in the installation and renovation of water-based fire protection systems. This position involves various responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, including the necessity to work alternative shifts or weekends to accommodate customer and job requirements. All tasks must be performed in a safe and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a trainee, the Fire Sprinkler Installation Assistant will learn the intricacies of fire sprinkler system installation.
  • Responsibilities may include site clean-up, unloading materials, staging, and distributing supplies to other team members on-site.
  • The role involves cutting, grooving, and threading pipes as part of the installation process.
  • Under the close supervision of a Fire Sprinkler Fitter, the assistant may install and test fire sprinkler systems.
  • Daily tasks will be guided by a Fire Sprinkler Fitter or Foreman, ensuring proper training and oversight.
  • Preferred qualifications include construction trade experience, demonstrated mechanical skills, or relevant training.
  • The ideal candidate must be dependable, capable of following verbal instructions, and show initiative in learning the trade.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to read labels, signage, and directions are essential.
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required for potential company vehicle operation.
  • Candidates should be eager to learn and apply NFPA standards 13, 14, 20, and 24.
  • Participation in training programs is encouraged to enhance professional growth and industry knowledge.
  • Learn to safely operate construction equipment, including ladders, lifts, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Embrace and apply DynaFire's mission statement and core values in daily tasks.
  • Adhere to DynaFire's safety protocols as well as those of the client.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.
  • Utilize effective time management skills to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs overhead and stand for extended periods.
  • Adaptability to work in various environments, including extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear as required, including safety shoes and helmets.
  • Flexibility to work alternate shifts or weekends as needed for customer installations.
  • Timely submission of all required documentation is expected.
  • Capability to learn and interpret blueprints is advantageous.

Training and Certification Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
  • No prior experience is necessary; however, specific certifications must be obtained within 36 months of hire.
  • Basic understanding of fire pumps, wet systems, pre-action systems, and dry systems is beneficial.
