The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Apprentice Panel Beater to join our team at Wales Bus and Body Repairs, located in Smithfield. As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced Spray Painters and learn the skills required to produce high-quality finishes on heavy vehicles.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning, sanding, and masking vehicle surfaces to prepare them for painting.
  • Mixing and matching paint colours to accurately match desired colours.
  • Using spray guns and other equipment to apply paint evenly and smoothly onto vehicle surfaces.
  • Applying primers and sealers to promote paint adhesion, prevent rust, and create a solid foundation for the topcoat.
  • Applying multiple layers of paint, including basecoat, clearcoat, and other specialized coatings.
  • Skilfully blending new paint into existing areas.
  • Performing detailed touch-ups to correct imperfections.
  • Creating special textures, patterns, or effects using different techniques.
  • Monitoring and controlling drying and curing processes.
  • Inspecting painted surfaces for flaws.
