Credit Policy Leader

A highly skilled professional sought to develop and maintain a robust credit policy framework that aligns with risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and evolving portfolio dynamics. This role requires expertise in credit analytics, collections strategy, and communication of key insights to senior management.


About The Role

The successful candidate will lead the design, execution, and performance tracking of champion/challenger collections initiatives, ensuring updates to credit policy are managed effectively, and high-quality credit analytics and board/funder reporting are produced.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive credit policy framework that incorporates risk appetite, funder agreements, regulatory obligations, and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Lead regular credit policy reviews and updates based on credit performance data, macroeconomic indicators, and operational feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure clear understanding, consistent application, and documentation of credit policy.

Collections Strategy Expertise
  • Design and execute targeted collections strategies to optimise early and late-stage arrears performance.
  • Analyse collections KPIs, iterate on strategies to improve cure rates, reduce roll rates, and minimise losses.
  • Work closely with Collections to operationalise strategy changes and monitor treatment outcomes.

Credit Analytics & Portfolio Insights
  • Deliver actionable insights on delinquency trends, arrears drivers, and risk concentrations through leading-edge credit performance analytics.
  • Mentor the Credit Analyst to support accurate reporting, ad hoc analysis, and ongoing model and trend tracking.

Reporting Excellence
  • Prepare high-quality, detailed credit performance reports for presentation to governance forums, including the Risk and Credit Committees and the Board.
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer in meetings with warehouse funders, rating agencies, and other external stakeholders by providing analytical input and credit policy commentary.
