Pedagogical Leadership Role in Early Childhood Education

The City of Greater Geelong is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pedagogical Coach to join our team. As a key member of our early childhood education program, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching teams to deliver high-quality programs.

As a Pedagogical Coach, your primary focus will be on mentoring educators and teachers to develop a deeper understanding of pedagogy and its application in practice. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver targeted support, focusing on building knowledge of policies, strategies, and frameworks that guide practice.

  • Providing educational leadership through mentoring, coaching, and support to educators and teachers.
  • Supporting staff to build a working knowledge of relevant policies, strategies, plans, and frameworks.
  • Providing targeted support and mentoring to teachers and educators, aligned with School Readiness Funding goals.
  • Undertaking regular reviews and evaluations of programs and professional practices to plan for continuous improvement.
  • Strengthening teachers' and educators' knowledge and understanding of reflective practice principles.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Mentoring: Provide strategic support and coaching to teaching teams to ensure excellence in teaching and learning.

Staff Development: Support staff to build a working knowledge of relevant policies, strategies, plans, and frameworks.

Program Evaluation: Undertake regular reviews and evaluations of programs and professional practices to plan for continuous improvement.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education (Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality children's programs using a strength-based, inclusive, family-centered approach.
  • Thorough working understanding of guiding documents under the National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards.
  • Proven experience in leading and participating in reflective discussions and considerations on practice and implementation of the VEYLDF.
  • Strong mentoring skills, including observing and feedback, leading reflective discussion, and developing plans for professional development.
