About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Project Director to join our Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section in Perth, Western Australia.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology and extensive work experience in consulting, particularly within the field of contaminated land assessment. They will be responsible for delivering complex projects on time and within budget, while leading and motivating teams to exceed client expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the effective planning and execution of complex projects
  • Providing technical guidance to support other team members on such projects as well as performing the role of Project Director and client-facing roles where appropriate
  • Developing others to build skills amongst the broader group in your State or Territory as appropriate
  • Providing informal leadership to the broader Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section as well as collaborating with other Sections to help deliver successful project outcomes for our clients

In addition to the above responsibilities, the successful candidate will be primarily involved in the Department of Defence PFAS Investigation and Management Program as a Project Director. Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for delivering to the appropriate quality: PFAS investigations, remediation, management, stakeholder engagement, community support in accordance with Branch objectives, policies and guidance
  • Oversee management of the regional budget and track spending, proactively raising with Directors any underspends and overspends
  • Manage performance, workload, timelines and deliverables of regional team (including supervision of report deliverables to the required quality)
  • Stakeholder management including State/Territory environmental regulators, water authorities, community members, Defence base contacts
  • Ensure compliance with WHS obligations
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences and professional or consultancy experience
  • Extensive work experience in consulting is advantageous, particularly within the field of contaminated land assessment, or having had any prior involvement in preparing technical reports
  • An appreciation of other environmental consultancy disciplines e.g., ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, and cultural heritage would be advantageous
  • Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget, while leading and motivating teams to exceed client expectations
  • Provided training and mentorship to junior staff while offering substantial project management support to the team
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and familiarity with videoconferencing practices
  • Strong attention to detail and an appetite to learn and develop technical skills relevant to contaminated land assessment
  • Current Defence Baseline Clearance (or the ability to obtain Clearance)
  • Australian Citizenship
