You will take an active role in leading project delivery, providing technical guidance to mid-level and junior staff, and mentoring more junior colleagues in both technical and softer skills. You will also contribute to business development, building client relationships that secure repeat work and new opportunities.

  • Oversee the effective planning and execution of complex projects, providing technical guidance and support where needed.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and technical elements within your State or Territory, and stay up-to-date with corresponding elements in other regions.
  • Lead complex pursuits and provide guidance and direction to teams, with support from senior leaders as required.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will play a key role in the Department of Defence PFAS Investigation and Management Program as a Project Director. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality PFAS investigations, remediation, management, stakeholder engagement, and community support in accordance with Branch objectives, policies, and guidance.
  • Managing regional budgets and tracking spending, proactively addressing underspends and overspends with Directors.
  • Supervising the performance, workload, timelines, and deliverables of regional teams, including report submissions of required quality.
  • Stakeholder management, including State/Territory environmental regulators, water authorities, community members, and Defence base contacts.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, or Hydrogeology.
  • Extensive work experience in consulting, particularly in contaminated land assessment, and prior involvement in preparing technical reports.
  • An appreciation of other environmental consultancy disciplines, such as ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, and cultural heritage.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget, while leading and motivating teams to exceed client expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and familiarity with videoconferencing practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and an appetite to learn and develop technical skills relevant to contaminated land assessment.
  • Current Defence Baseline Clearance (or ability to obtain Clearance).
  • Australian Citizenship.

Jacobs offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including access to professional development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive work environment.
