About the Role

Townsville Catholic Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Education Officer to provide support for Indigenous students at our Good Shepherd Catholic College, Mount Isa campus.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement strategies that promote student engagement and academic success. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and community members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support and guidance to Indigenous students, focusing on their academic and personal development.
  • Liaise with teachers and other staff members to identify student needs and develop targeted interventions.
  • Develop and implement cultural awareness programs and activities that promote understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures.
  • Work closely with local community groups and Traditional Owners to foster positive relationships and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and procedures related to Indigenous student support and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous students and communities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on student outcomes.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and interpret data to inform decision-making.
