  • The Role
  • You will be responsible for providing clinical care to patients referred to or requiring the care of our hospital, at a level consistent with the standards expected of an Anaesthetic Consultant.
  • This includes patients on the ward, in outpatient areas, and in the Emergency Department.
  • You will also oversee the work of assigned junior medical staff, ensuring the adequacy of documentation, safe practice, teamwork, communication, and prescribing.

About the Hospital

Our hospital underwent a major transformation to provide expanded and upgraded clinical services, costing over $250 million.

The redevelopment has been designed with the most up-to-date advancements in medical practice in mind.

Our facilities are world-class, featuring 6 ultra-modern Integrated Digital Operating Theatres, a new 32-bed Surgical Inpatient Unit, a new and expanded ICU/HDU, and 20 Bed Coronary Care Ward; and a new Emergency Department to accommodate the busiest trauma centre in Western NSW.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and hold a Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College for Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent qualification as an overseas trained specialist.

A new expedited pathway to specialist registration was implemented by the Medical Board of Australia, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in Anaesthetics.
