Job Overview:

A high-achieving and experienced diesel mechanic is sought after to take on the role of Workshop Supervisor and lead the workshop team in delivering exceptional maintenance and repair services.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair activities
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including NHVR guidelines
  • Manage mechanic personnel and optimize workshop efficiency

Technical & Mechanical Expertise:
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and heavy vehicles
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and safety inspections
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning or worn-out components, parts, and equipment
  • Handle repairs on specialized vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct quality control: ensure all work meets quality standards and test-drive vehicles to confirm proper functionality

Workshop Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and coordination: oversee the work of other mechanics and apprentices, provide guidance, and ensure efficient workflow
  • Scheduling and resource allocation: plan and allocate jobs, manage workshop resources (tools, equipment, parts), and schedule maintenance activities
  • Compliance and safety: ensure all work is performed in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies
  • Workshop operations: manage day-to-day operations, maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Breakdowns: liaise with breakdown service providers interstate and internal staff locally to manage breakdowns efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Inventory management: potentially manage stock of parts and supplies, ensuring availability for repairs and maintenance
  • Record keeping: maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and maintenance schedules

Leadership and Administrative Skills:
  • Customer service: interact with clients, provide updates on repairs, address customer concerns
  • Training and development: provide training and guidance to other mechanics and apprentices
  • Performance management: monitor workshop performance, provide feedback, contribute to performance evaluations
  • Communication and liaison: effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and departments
