Job Opportunity for PLT Students

The HIV/AIDS Legal Centre is seeking 2 volunteer students to assist with various tasks in the field of law.

We provide free legal services to individuals affected by HIV and Hep C on related legal matters, including immigration, administrative law, public health, criminal, employment, discrimination, insurance/superannuation, estate planning, social security, and family law.

  • Deliver legal advice under supervision;
  • Maintain accurate files and records;
  • Conduct client intakes and casework under directions from Solicitors;
  • Perform general administrative tasks;
  • Research legal and administrative laws and procedures;

Essential Criteria:

  • Sensitivity to individuals affected by HIV and Hep C;
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;

We require volunteers to commit to at least 3 days a week. Volunteers may be required to attend clients face-to-face or attend tribunals/courts.

Those with medical exemptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
