Job Summary: We are seeking a Casual Youth Officer to join our team at Youth Off The Streets Limited. As a Casual Youth Officer, you will be responsible for supervising young people in custody, providing direct supervision and care, and escorting young people to court and/or Youth Justice Centres.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and Care: Provide direct supervision and care to young people from diverse and challenging backgrounds who are temporarily being held in custody in the police cells.
- Escort and Support: Escort young people in their trips to court and/or Youth Justice Centres and gather information to share with the relevant authorities.
- On-Call Work: Be available to work on an on-call basis, working over 24 hours.
Requirements:
- Communication Skills: Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Teamwork and Autonomy: Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
- Judgement and Fairness: Demonstrate good judgement and ensure young people are treated fairly and with dignity.
- Qualifications and Certifications: Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a visa that allows you to work in Australia with unlimited working rights. Possess a minimum Provisional 2 NSW Driver's licence. Possession or willingness to obtain the 'Provide First Aid Certificate' (HLTAID003). NSW Working with Children Check Clearance. National Background Police Check. Medical and Fitness Assessment.
