We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as Chief Operations Director – Regional Libraries. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of library services across the Richmond Tweed region.
Job Description
The successful candidate will lead the operations of 12 branches and a mobile library, working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement strategic plans and budgets. You will be responsible for driving service delivery excellence, empowering teams to deliver exceptional programs, initiatives, and community partnerships.
This dynamic role involves building strong relationships with individuals, businesses, and community organisations across the Northern Rivers Region. You will work closely with member councils to align goals, drive innovation, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice and implement business improvements to drive RTRL's operational success
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements and enhance community-focused services
- Lead and support library staff to foster a professional and high-performing work environment
- Develop and oversee annual business plans, budgets, and performance reports
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive customer-centric initiatives
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in business, leadership, or a related discipline
- Proven leadership experience in managing multi-site operations and strategic planning
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Financial acumen with experience in budget development and management
Working with Children Check
In accordance with the requirement for 'Working with Children', anyone starting a new paid job in child-related work must apply for the Working with Children Check (WWCC). This is a requirement for this position, and it is the responsibility of the successful applicant to have undertaken the WWCC and the 'Clearance to Work with Children' provided to Council prior to commencement.
