Job Overview:

Museum security personnel safeguard priceless works of art and invaluable artifacts with utmost care and attention. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, motivated team-member who values the State's history.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and security of museum visitors, staff, and facilities.
  • Provide accurate information to guests in person and on the phone.
  • Enforce safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and damage to artwork or facilities.
  • Aid staff members as needed during events or exhibitions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of museum grounds and buildings.
  • Activate and monitor alarm systems to maintain a secure environment.
  • Investigate incidents and document safety hazards for future improvement.
  • Assist with event setup and take-down, including equipment and program material.

Requirements:
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with guests.
  • Observational skills to detect irregularities and report them promptly.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with CPR/AED/First Aid procedures and certification.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma and at least one year of experience in a related field; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
