Job Description

This role involves working with young parents and their children to improve child development and parenting outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing children's development using Ages and Stages Questionnaire screening tools (ASQ/ASQ:SE), providing tailored intervention plans to address identified delays, and delivering parent education to assist young parents in understanding and supporting their child's development.

About the Role
  • Work with young parents (13-25 years) and their children to improve child development and parenting outcomes
  • Assess children's development using ASQ/ASQ:SE tools
  • Provide intervention plans to address delays
  • Deliver parent education to support child development
  • Upskill staff in YPP Child Development initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of child development needs, assessment, and implementation strategies
  • Understanding of adolescent development and best practice working with young women and men with complex needs and behaviours
  • Client motivation skills, particularly with young people with challenging behaviours and a history of non-engagement with services
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practice in parenting newborns, toddlers, and young children
Mandatory Requirements
  • Clearance to work with Children and a current Driver's Licence is required for this role
  • Valid registration on the Residential Care Workers Register
