Mater Dei College Seeks Experienced Basketball Professional

Mater Dei College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to lead our Basketball Academy as Director of Basketball. This is a part-time, temporary position commencing 1 January 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, program, and organize classes, sessions, games, and tournaments to promote learning and involvement
  • Teach basketball fundamentals, improve individual and team performance, and foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership
  • Act as a role model and mentor to students, inspiring a love of basketball and guiding them toward success both on and off the court
  • Communicate regularly with parents, school staff, and external stakeholders, promoting the College's Basketball Academy
Requirements:
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the College
  • Experience as a basketball coach, program director, or basketball teacher, preferably at a school level
  • Bachelor's degree in health and physical education or related field, relevant coaching certifications, and knowledge of first aid/safety protocols
  • Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) and Working with Children Check
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum
  • Understanding of current educational perspectives
  • Experience working with high school students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
