About the Role


Townsville Catholic Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Groundsperson to contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the College by providing high-quality maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Maintain and upgrade college grounds and gardens, including fertilising, pruning, landscaping, and minor irrigation checks and repairs as required
  • Assist with lawn maintenance, tree trimming, hedging, blowing down, and outdoor vacuuming
  • Service and maintain garden and lawn care equipment
  • Perform bin runs, rubbish removal, tilling sandpits, and pressure cleaning
  • Assist with setting up for college functions and displays
  • Perform minor repairs to the college property and equipment

About You



  • Demonstrated experience with prioritising workload and assessing repairs quickly
  • Experience with the provision of high-quality maintenance and development of facilities
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to ensure a high standard of safety and due diligence
  • Working knowledge of regulations, standards, and safety applications of facilities and grounds
  • Able to assess safety repairs quickly to ensure maximum safety at all times
  • Demonstrated flexibility and sensitivity to meet the needs of students and staff
  • Ability to communicate with staff across primary and secondary school settings
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships

Mandatory Criteria



  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role safely
  • Pre-employment medical assessment
