Island Health is seeking a Cardiac Anaesthesiologist to join our team at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
About the RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Anaesthesiologist to provide anaesthesia services for cardiac surgery patients. The successful candidate will be part of a collegial team and will be responsible for managing postoperative cardiac surgery patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVU).
Responsibilities- Providing anaesthesia services for cardiac surgery patients
- Managing postoperative cardiac surgery patients in the CVU
- Providing peri-operative TEE service to all cardiac cases, CVU patients as needed, and occasional out-of-OR patients
- Preoperative assessments of cardiac surgery patients
- Anesthesia preoperative consultation clinic
- Care of acute pain service patients
- Teaching of a cardiac fellow, medical students, and residents
The successful applicant must have current experience managing postoperative cardiac surgery patients in the CVU. Fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia is desired, and the NBE Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography certification or equivalent is preferred.
