We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Care Specialist to join our team at Southern Cross Care. As a key member of our Residential Care team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise support provision for daily living in accordance with each resident's care/service plan.
- Lead and promote social and physical engagement in all resident interactions.
- Assess resident's condition and functional ability, identifying and managing risks, and ensuring optimal use of medications.
- Provide leadership, direction, support, mentoring, and coaching to Personal Carers, Enrolled Nurses, Hotel Service staff, Lifestyle, Maintenance, and Administration staff.
- Ensure clear and succinct handovers from shift to shift and relevant documentation in the 7-day handover sheet.
- Ensure all staff read and comply with all policies, procedures, and work instructions relevant to them.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Nurse Care Specialist who possesses the following qualities:
- Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in an Aged Care environment.
- Sound communication skills with a level of English literacy that enables you to speak in a manner that older people can understand.
- Exceptional time management skills to manage your workload and support other staff.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills to balance supporting residents' desire for independence and self-determination against potential risks and duty of care.
- High-level understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia, including those who display challenging behaviors.
- Understanding of how to apply AN-ACC to ensure optimum levels of funding are achieved.
- Excellent contemporary best practice clinical knowledge, including medicines used in aged care.
- Excellent knowledge of the Aged Care Standards, particularly as they relate to accreditation.
