As a Skilled Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of plant and equipment to ensure efficient and safe landfill and transfer station operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain large earthmoving plant such as excavators (30-35 tonne), dozers (D6 equivalent and above), compactors, articulated dump trucks (30 tonne and above), and front-end loaders.
  • Conduct tasks efficiently and safely in landfill and transfer station operations.
  • Perform pre-start checks, regular maintenance, and cleaning of plant and equipment.
  • Maximize material diversion from landfill by recovering recyclable materials.
  • Ensure efficient and safe access for customers and vehicles on site.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the site and facilities.
  • Adhere to approved plans, schedules, council standards, and compliance requirements.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in a waste or resource recovery environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of landfill operations, waste placement processes, and EPA compliance.
  • High level of competence in operating and maintaining large earthmoving plant.
  • Problem-solving skills combining practical experience and theoretical knowledge.
  • Capability to provide on-the-job training for plant and earthmoving works.
  • Strong time management skills to plan work effectively.
