Remote Census Operations Role

Census operations managers are responsible for overseeing field activities in regional and remote areas, utilizing local knowledge and connections to coordinate and manage census collection activities. As a vital member of the team, you will lead small teams responsible for the census in your area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management, including developing and updating work plans for your area of responsibility.
  • Providing training and administrative support to your teams, conducting daily quality checks, and ensuring workplace health and safety compliance.
  • Leading small teams, including remote teams, in a busy environment with tight deadlines.
  • Recruiting, training, and managing staff, as well as implementing WHS practices within a team.
  • Developing relationships with people in the workplace and community, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with or advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in an operational setting.
  • Ability to read and navigate maps, as well as communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks with limited guidance, and make decisions independently.
  • Skills in people management, including recruitment, training, and implementing WHS practices within a team.
