Analytics Engineering Leader

Job Overview
Rome2Rio is looking for an experienced Analytics Engineering Leader to join our Melbourne-based team and lead the development of a best-in-class analytics foundation.
This role will be responsible for designing data models and infrastructure that power decision-making, experimentation, and insight across the organization. The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of data modelling, platform engineering, and business enablement—creating a scalable, reliable, and trusted analytics environment.
Key Responsibilities- Architect and maintain high-quality, scalable analytics data models using dbt in BigQuery.
- Lead the implementation and strategic buildout of Looker and the semantic layer, while driving end-to-end metrics standardization from data models to dashboards.
- Ingest, model, and ensure reliability of clickstream data (e.g., Snowplow).
- Collaborate with Data Platform and Engineering to optimize data pipelines and reduce latency or duplication.
- Partner with Data Science to develop reusable, production-grade datasets that support experimentation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, testing coverage, and documentation for analytics codebases.
- Monitor and optimize query performance for cost and responsiveness.
- Mentor teammates and champion best practices in analytics engineering and data enablement.
