HCF is a purpose-driven organization that aims to make healthcare affordable, understandable, high-quality, and member-focused. Our vision is to bring our human touch to healthcare, and we're committed to maintaining an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

About the Role

The Business Risk Advisor plays a critical role in providing advice, support, and consulting on risk matters to Business Senior Leaders and their teams across the organization. You will be responsible for operationalizing and continuously improving HCF's Risk Management Framework, and embedding a risk culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide risk management guidance to support sound business decision-making and ensure operations are conducted within acceptable risk parameters.
  • Develop a clear understanding of business areas to drive business risk discussions, contribute to risk assessment activities, and promote a risk culture.
  • Manage the process for reviewing and updating divisional and business risk profiles and risk registers, including facilitating risk workshops.
  • Conduct core risk management activities in accordance with the Risk Team Operational Plan, including overseeing business incident management and monitoring the completion of business key risk mitigation testing plans.
  • Support the review and update of relevant policies, such as the Risk Management Framework, Risk Management Strategy, Risk Appetite Statement, and Business Continuity Management policies.
  • Support and implement new and improved risk management practices as part of HCF's continuous risk maturity uplift, including risk management methods and systems.
  • Support the Senior Risk Manager and the Head of Risk Management to provide group-wide risk analysis, insights, and reporting to the Executive and Board Risk and Compliance Committees.
About You

You thrive in a team environment that prioritizes operational excellence, peer support, collaboration, and openness. You enjoy partnering with the business and across organizational functions to understand business drivers and performance and provide informed support and input to business risk considerations.

You want to utilize your critical analysis skills to translate information into meaningful insights and practical outputs, advice, or solutions to support business needs and the objectives of the Risk team and the broader CRO division.

Requirements:
  • Experience working in a risk advisory or consulting role, or in an APRA-regulated environment.
  • An understanding of the IT industry.
  • A 'continuous improvement' mindset and ability to think critically.
  • Proven ability to collect relevant data, critically analyze and synthesize information, and translate into meaningful and practical outputs, advice, or solutions to present at a senior management level.
  • Ability to offer concise advice, while demonstrating business acumen that highlights a thorough knowledge of business objectives.
  • Effective interpersonal and written skills and a demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and adopt ways of working to support team deliverables and meet business needs.
  • Desire to learn, develop your skills, and grow in a supportive team environment.
  • Autonomy in managing day-to-day work delivery and ability to manage priorities to ensure objectives are met.
  • Proven willingness to work collaboratively across cross-functional disciplines.
