We are seeking an experienced Chief Plant Operations Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function at our Port Melbourne manufacturing site.

This is a key role in our Senior Management team, reporting directly to the Plant/Site Manager. As part of our site management team, you will deliver innovative solutions to ensure efficient operation of the plants.

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the engineering and maintenance function across the Port Melbourne plants.
  • Deliver plant optimisation to allow for efficient productivity of the plant.
  • Establish planned maintenance activities to ensure effective running of the plant.
  • Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Drive process improvement, technical innovation and the implementation of advanced technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Manage resources effectively to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the engineering and maintenance teams including maintenance contractors to ensure safe and productive outputs.
  • Develop the maintenance strategy.

Key requirements include:

  • Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil or related field)
  • At least 10 years management experience within a similar role particularly with broad experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Ability to work with a unionized workforce and a track record of fostering collaborative working relationships and building trust
  • Excellent experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and root cause analysis
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office required and SAP an advantage
  • Ability to mentor, develop and coach team members as well as maintain performance and personal growth while working together as a team.
